The Raphael Cruz Scholarship Fund

Raphael Cruz was a bright international star in the world of contemporary circus from a young age. A Bay Area native, he began his journey in San Francisco before going on to create roles for The 7 Fingers, Cirque du Soleil, and Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre. He was one of three brothers to travel the path from San Francisco's Circus Center to Montreal's National Circus School, and on to extraordinary careers with The 7 Fingers. Raphael passed away at the age of 31.

The Raphael Cruz Scholarship Fund was established in order to create access to the same path that Raphael traveled for Bay Area youth interested in circus. There are three main programs of the fund:

  • The Spark: Tickets subsidies for Bay Area youth to attend The 7 Fingers' Dear San Francisco at Club Fugazi.

  • The Skills: Summer training stipends for Bay Area youth to attend Circus Center or Kinetic Arts Circus Camps.

  • The Profession: Scholarships for advanced study at the National Circus School in Montreal.

The fund is created and administered by Club Fugazi. For information about access to youth tickets and scholarships, email us at Info@clubfugazisf.com.
